Florida is the Fresh Winter Vegetable Center of the U.S.


Florida is the United States' winter veggie plate, providing about 90 percent of the fresh vegetable grown in the U.S. during January and February of each year.

Year round, Florida ranks N0. 2 nationally in the U.S. production of all vegetables, accouting for 15.2 percent of the nation's production in 1993.

Florida farmers grew 6.7 billion pounds of vegetables, melons, and berries, and sold them for more then $1.7 billion in 1993.

Vegetables accounted for 30 percent of Florida's agricultural sale in 1993.
